Getting degrees, earning honors

Jacqueline Manginelli and Natalie Weintraub, both Hewlett residents, earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in feminist, gender and sexuality studies and government from Wesleyan University in Connecticut and a Bachelor of Science degree in animal sciences from the University of Vermont, respectively.

Owen Bachelder, a Woodmere resident, was named to the spring dean’s list at Roger Williams University in Rhode Island. Students must take 12 credits or more per semester and attain a grade-point average of 3.4 or higher.

Alexandra Clarke, Ross Lager and Zachary Menashe, all Woodmere residents, received degrees at Quinnipiac University’s commencement last month. Clarke earned a Master of Science in public relations, Lager a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Menashe a Bachelor of Arts in liberal studies.

Atlantic Beach resident Hannah Fruitman was recognized by Tufts University for her academic achievements and was named to the dean’s list, which requires to students to have a GPA of 3.4 or higher.

More than 1,300 bachelor’s and master’s degrees were presented to graduating students at commencement ceremonies at Lehigh University on May 20. Rayna Smilowitz earned a Bachelor of Arts degree with majors in biology and health, medicine and society. Devin Love graduated with a Bachelor of Science in business and economics degree with a major in finance and Ryan Moreida earned a Bachelor of Science in business and economics degree and a Bachelor of Science in mathematics with honors. All are Hewlett residents.

Over 1,500 students were named to the spring dean’s list at SUNY Oneonta. Sariana Almonte of Lawrence, Maya Hasson of Woodmere, Lexi Liebowitz and Gianna Papini, both from Hewlett earned the distinction. To earn a spot on the list, students must finish a semester with a GPA of 3.5 or greater, while pursuing a course load of 12 hours per week or more.

More than 900 students were named to the President’s List at SUNY at Potsdam for the spring semester as recognition for earning a high GPA. Inwood resident Ariana Brown, a biology major, was one of the students named.

Shayna Sosnowik, a Lawrence resident, graduated from the Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine at Tufts University during the 37th commencement on May 19. She was one of 157 students whose focus varied from veterinary medicine to infectious disease and global health.

Hewlett resident Sophie Cohen was named to the dean’s list for the spring semester at Bucknell University. Students must earn a GPA of 3.5 or higher to earn the honor.

Zhentian Ren, a Hewlett resident, was one of 1,019 to receive bachelor degrees at Worcester Polytechnic Institute’s 151st graduation. Ren’s degree is in actuarial mathematics.
