Five Towns Community Center receives food donation

All Round Foods, a Westbury-based food marketer and distributor, and the Atlantic Beach-headquartered Richard M. Brodsky Foundation donated 60 boxes of challahs, empanadas, bagels, wraps and pastries to Five Towns Community Center in Lawrence on Jan. 8.

Brodsky, an Atlantic Beach resident, is a survivor of brain cancer and HIV. “I am the only person in the world who runs marathons who is living with HIV and brain cancer,” he said. “It is because my foundation permits me to help others. If you help others you feel good about yourself and you can run marathons, swim or bike long distances.” Brodsky credits his “marathon-running-loving wife,” Jodi, for being part of the philanthropy.

Michael Gliner, owner of PIP Printing in Inwood and vice president of the Inwood Civic Association picked the food. Sasha Young, the Herald’s Person of the Year for 2020, will oversee the food distribution through her Gammy’s Pantry at the Community Center.
