Four teams of home chefs and mixologists battled for fun and donation in the “Fire & Ice Face Off” at the Sephardic Temple in Cedarhurst on March 10 to help support SULAM-LI, a Jewish religious school for children with special needs.

Nancy Hoffman and Rosemarie Castellano, the Cooking Colades, were the winners. The event raised $20,000.

SULAM-LI is a collaboration of Congregation B’Nai Sholom-Beth David in Rockville Centre, Congregation Sons of Israel in Woodmere, Hewlett-East Rockaway Jewish Centre in East Rockaway, Temple Am Echad-the South Shore Reform Congregation in Lynbrook, Temple Beth El of Cedarhurst, Temple Hillel in North Woodmere and Temple Israel of Lawrence in cooperation with the Jewish Education Project of New York and the Lawrence-based NCJW-Peninsula Section.

The Caring Commission of UJA Federation of New York provided the initial funding for SULAM-LI. The Barry & Florence Friedberg JCC in Oceanside houses SULAM-LI.
