Combining Judaic themes and Torah in art at HAFTR

HAFTR fourth-graders prepared for their March art show with guidance from artist Rabbi Yitzchok Moully, who is inspired by Andy Warhol.

Moully encouraged the students to follow their talents to make, “Hashem’s complete world more complete,” he said. Using his style, students painted canvases and when dry, used a silk screening method to superimpose a graphic on their backgrounds.

He also brought a few of his designs. Each student completed an original piece of artwork, which was displayed at the Fourth Grade Evening of the Arts.

Moully worked with families to create an art installation, “Overflowing Blessings.” Each student and parent chose a cup of paint to pour over the sculpture and finished the sentence, “I am grateful for_”. The sculpture will be permanently displayed in front of the lower school building.
