Cedarhurst trees to be trimmed beginning Aug. 12

Supposedly named for the number of cedar trees in the area, the Village of Cedarhurst will have PSEG-Long Island crews trimming branches and leaves that have grown too close to power line starting the week of Aug. 12. This is to help avert power, telephone and internet outages, and reduce severe fire and other safety concerns.

PSEG’s aim in trimming the tress to enhance provide safe and reliable service, officials said. No roads will be closed but motorists are asked to allow some extra time during the morning commute and proceed slowly and carefully around work crews — to help ensure everyone’s safety.

A majority of the work can be performed from the streets, however at times workers will need to be on private property to access the electric wires. The workers are required to proceed with the utmost care and respect and remove all of their trimmings and debris by the end of the day, officials said.
