Bowling Green shares the gift of reading

Posted

Throughout the month of December, the K-Kids service organization from Bowling Green Elementary School in the East Meadow School District collected 19 boxes of books to be donated to children in the community.

The K-Kids organization is sponsored by East Meadow Kiwanis and has its members work with students to teach leadership skills, character building and encourage loyalty.

Leah Terriberry, the K-Kids board president and a fifth-grade student at Bowling Green Elementary School, was proud to do her part for children in need this holiday season. “It makes me happy to help the community and donate books to kids so they can enjoy them,” she said.

Bowling Green students and families donated various types of books, from historical stories to fictional tales. These books will be donated to the Book Fairies organization. The Book Fairies is a nonprofit organization that collects reading materials for people in need throughout New York.
