Lynbrook Board of Education hosts reorganizational meeting

To adhere to social distancing measures, the Lynbrook Board of Education hosted its annual reorganization meeting on July 7 in the Lynbrook High School gymnasium, instead of the cafeteria.

Reelected Trustee Ellen Marcus and newcomer Patrick Palleschi were sworn in as members of the board. President William Belmont, Vice President Lesli Deninno and Secretary Robert Paskoff were also reelected into their respective positions, and sworn in for the 2020-21 school year.

In June, Marcus told the Herald why she decided to seek another term on the school board.

“I am proud to have been able to serve this community for the past 12 years, and look forward to the opportunity of serving another term,” she said. “I feel strongly that I owe it to myself, the district and the community to continue to serve as a member of the school board.  I am confident that my hard work, dedication and input over the years has benefitted our students and the community.”

Palleschi said he ran because he hoped to make a difference.

“I have seen seemingly small decisions by a school board lead to very significant negative changes in a town,” he said. “. . .We all want to continue to see this community thrive, and I believe the best way for that to happen is for the school district to thrive.”
