East Rockaway coaches and alumni to host drive-thru pizza party

Posted

Coaches and alumni of the East Rockaway School District are hosting a free drive-thru pizza night while practicing social distancing on Friday as a lead-up to Nassau and Suffolk county schools turning their lights on to acknowledge the class of 2020.

Lynbrook and East Rockaway schools will each light up at 8:20 p.m., or 20:20 military time, Friday night in support of the senior class.

Before that, coaches and alumni, under the direction of ERHS alum Allen Owens, will host a drive-thru pizza party at the high school's oval, 443 Ocean Ave., from 3 to 7 p.m.

The pies are coming from all different pizza places, including Joey's Pizza in Lynbrook and Villa Maria in East Rockaway. Some of them will be donated, while the alumni will pay for some in order to support local businesses. In all, 175 pies will be given out.

Participants are welcome to drive by the oval, where they will receive pizza. The coaches and alumni are offering one pie per car, and they will be available on a first come, first serve basis, while supplies last.
