Track teams excel at Penn Relays

The track and field teams from East Meadow High School and W.T. Clarke High School ventured to Philadelphia from April 25 through 27 to compete at the Penn Relays at University of Pennsylvania on its Franklin Field.

The W.T. Clarke High School boys’ 4x100 meter relay team, comprised of Alex Pereira, David Stewart, Sobin Ouseph and Jake Rosenthal, ran a season best time of 45.54 during their race heat.

East Meadow High School students Chris Martinez, David Romaldo, Alan Gonzalez and John Meah ran the fifth fastest 4x400 meter relay time in the school’s history and earned third place in the event with a time of 3:35.21. The 4x100 meter relay team from East Meadow High School set a season best finish of 45.20 as James Wagnac, David Romaldo, Sam Nkrumah and Brandon Love earned second place in their heat and placed 26th overall.

Seniors Isabel Marsh, Rachel Rose, Katherine Marsh and Madison Sohl raced to a season-best time of 9:45.71 during the 4x800 meter relay and placed 10th in the event for the East Meadow High School girls’ track and field team. Two other East Meadow High School girls relay teams competed in the 4x100 and 4x400 meter runs and showcased the future of the program, as six of the eight legs were run by underclassmen.
