CEMCO Special Meeting

CEMCO will be holding another meeting focusing on bail reform with guest speaker Nassau County Police Commissioner Patrick Ryder on Feb. 13 at 7 p.m. at the East Meadow Fire Department Headquarters at 197 East Meadow Ave. Also discussed will be the CEMCO crime watch, budget and beautification reports.

The Art of James Whitten

View the art of James Whitten at the East Meadow Public Library’s art gallery at the Samanea New York Market, the former Source Mall in Westbury, on Feb. 15 at 12 p.m. for an opening reception with music by Richard Arriaga and light refreshments. If you miss the reception, the exhibit will be on display from Feb. 1 to Feb. 26. James Whitten has worked for the NY Times, in advertising, and for the U.S. Postal Service as an artist. He as private clients and many freelance projects. He enjoys painting with oils and acrylics and feels that the initial pencil rendering of an image is the foundation of almost all of art pieces. Whitten has painted and sketched historical figures, and many portraits of friends and family members, as well as popular black figures. He extracts creative ideas and inspiration from his Bahamian roots. Having a Grandfather and many other relatives who were from Andros Island and Nassau Bahamas, Whitten travels there often to visit those who remain and be inspired by the colorful carnivals and the calm ocean views and activities.

Psychic Night at Borrelli’s

Once a month, the back room of Borrelli’s Italian Restaurant fills with psychics and mediums who set up tarot cards, gem stones and other spiritual tools to help guests seeking advice and guidance or looking to connect with a relative who has passed on. Psychic Night returns on Monday, Feb. 17 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Come with friends and speak to one of the psychics and mediums, all of who work through ESPConnection.com. The psychic agency hosts similar psychic nights at restaurants throughout the area.
