Elmont, Franklin Square and Sewanhaka budgets pass

Voters in the Elmont Union Free School District voted 837 to 305 on May 21 to accept the Board of Education's proposed $93 million budget. The budget includes a 2.68 tax-levy increase. Board members Tameka Battle-Burkett, Michael Cantara and Michael Jaime were unopposed in the re-election bids. Battle Burkett received 857 votes, and Cantara received 823 votes, and Jaime got 776 votes.

Voters also assented to Sewanhaka Central High School District's $203 million budget on a vote of 2,581 to 1,227. The budget includes a 2.69 tax-levy increase.

And voter passed the Franklin Square Union Free School District’s $39 million budget 602 to 213. The budget includes a 1.81 tax-levy increase. Voters also approved the $2 million bond proposition to conclude the district’s bathroom renovations 633 to 169. Board members Louis Curcio and Stephen Toto ran unopposed. Curcio garnered 498 votes, and Toto received 501 votes.
