Cedarhurst village officials noted that the National Weather Service is warning that hazardous weather is forecast for the Five Towns today with rain between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m., and thunderstorms after 1 p.m. Wind gusts up to 44 mph are also expected. A wind advisory is in effect from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

In an emergency, call 911. For fire and medical emergencies only, call the Lawrence-Cedarhurst Fire Department, (516) 569-4411.

Avoid unnecessary outdoor activity. Falling tree limbs and other wind-blown debris could cause serious injuries or death. The safest place to weather the storm is indoors.
