20th ANNUAL LONG ISLAND AUTISM SPEAKS WALK

Posted

Powered by the love of parents, grandparents, siblings, friends, relatives and support providers, the Long Island community comes together to celebrate the lives of people with autism.

With every step you take and every dollar you raise, you help enhance lives today and accelerate a spectrum of solutions for tomorrow. It is a movement to increase understanding and acceptance of people with autism – across the spectrum and throughout the life span.

On Sunday, October 13th, Jones Beach – Field 5 turns blue with an expected 10,000 Autism Speaks supporters to celebrate the 2019 Long Island Autism Speaks Walk. Join us for this fundraising event to honor and support people living with autism and their families. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. and Sensory Friendly Welcoming Ceremonies begin at 10:00 a.m. This fun-filled, sensory friendly, family event will be hosted by Jodi Vale, K 98.3–WKJY-FM Music Director/Afternoon Drive Air Personality and Craig Allen, WCBS Meteorologist.

Our strength as a community is powered by love and built on the commitment of individuals like you. Start a team, join a team or come on your own. Everyone is encouraged to register before Walk Day by visiting http://act.autismspeaks.org/longisland. Participants will enjoy arts and crafts, music, food and much more.

Individual participants who raise $150.00 or more will receive an official 2019 Long Island Autism Speaks Walk

t-shirt designed by Tommy Hilfiger on Walk day.

Autism Speaks staff will be on hand to answer questions and share the latest resources and tool kits at the Autism Speaks Resources tent. Visit autism service providers and sponsors for more support and fun. Thank you to our national partner, Alpha Xi Delta. Special appreciation to our sponsors: GEICO, Bob’s Discount Furniture, National Mah Jongg League, Nassau Suffolk Services for Autism, Life’s WORC and Personal Touch Early Intervention Program.

Autism Speaks is dedicated to promoting solutions, across the spectrum and throughout the life span, for the needs of individuals with autism and their families. We do this through advocacy and support; increasing understanding and acceptance of autism spectrum disorder; and advancing research into causes and better interventions for autism spectrum disorder and related conditions. We empower people with autism and their families with resources, online tools and information covering the life span. Go to AutismSpeaks.org to learn more, donate or join a fundraising walk.
